Carroll Valley and Beyond!

Last week we played a last minute show outside of Gettysburg, PA.  We were asked about a week out to play this benefit show by Larsen.  Carroll Valley is a little over an hour from our Perry County headquarters.  But, man, what a show this turned out to be.  Small room but full of people.  Which is a lot more fun than playing a big room with no people.

We had a lot of fun.  Now, we’ve played a few really good shows recently.  The Rock Kat was a blast.  Boondocks is always great.  But this show felt different.  We met a lot of new friends.  And those folks really went hard for our set.  Dancing and moving.  It was great.  It really feels awesome to be on the other end of a show like that.  So, truly and sincerely, THANK YOU to every single person who was at the show at watched us play.  We had a great time.  And thanks for buying so many shirts and cds!

Looking forward, our next show is July 14 at LaserDome in Manheim PA.  It’s been over a year since we last played the Dome.  If you’ve never caught a show there you should check it out.  Visually there is nothing cooler than the LaserDome.  All of the band members have tickets so grab one from us!  We’ll be joined by our good friends Deception Theory from New York.  These guys are an awesome band and really good dudes.

Between now and then we hope to shoot a legit video and to finish the lyric videos for our EP.  We only have “The Unbeaten Path” left to do.  We’re not sure which song we’ll shoot the video for so we’ll ask you….which song from the EP should we shoot a video for?  Please comment and let us know.  Also, we’re hoping to order a new round of shirts and some other stuff soon!

Check out the vid from Friday Night in the meantime!

All’s Quiet. (good band too)

Hey everyone or anyone!

Haven’t updated the blog in a while. Things have been quiet here at MAS headquarters. Our next show isn’t until July 14 at this point so we’ve just been jamming and working on new songs. Really not a whole lot to update!

We’ve got a new lyric video to release later this week for Friday Night.

We’re also planning on shooting a legitimate music video on June 2nd. This is gonna be fun!

That’s about it for now. We’ve got a little down time right now, but that doesn’t mean something won’t pop up between now and July.

As for that July show. It’s the 14th at the LaserDome in Manheim. We’ll be joined by our good friends Deception Theory from NY. They are great dudes and a great band. Tickets can be purchased anytime at this link.  Buying from that link directly helps the band!

Thanks for your continued support!

Great Weekend

First, we’ve got to say THANK YOU to every single person who watched us play this weekend.

As I sit here Sunday evening it’s hard to imagine a better weekend.  We were fortunate enough to play two of Central PA’s best venues this weekend and we had a blast.  Friday we jammed at the Boondocks Club in York Haven.  So much fun.  What a great venue.  That place just has such a cool vibe and good feel.  Met some new friends.  Saw some old friends.  Really, just a great way to start the weekend.

Then Saturday.  Rock Kat Bar in Duncannon.  Somewhat of a homecoming for us.  This is as hometown of a show as we can get in rural Perry county.  And boy, P.C. did not disappoint.  As good as Friday’s show was this was unreal.  We saw SO many old friends and faces in the crowd.  And, again, met a bunch of new friends.  Everything came together Saturday night.  For the 40 minutes or so that we were on stage everything was right in the world.

So, again, we cannot overstate the THANKS we owe you guys.  Each and every single person, old friends and new, you guys rule.  We had so much fun this weekend.  But I’d be lying if I said we feel great physically.  We’re getting old and all four of us are feeling it today.

We’re gonna keep this train rolling.  We’re storming the shores of the mighty Susquehanna this week.  We kick down the doors of the Drinking Bone in Wormleysburg THURSDAY night with our new buds Denied By Deception.  We hope some of you that might have missed us this weekend can make it out.

In the meantime, check out the Full Tilt Productions studio outtake video we released Friday:

Movies

I bought a couple of Blu Rays this weekend.  Two movies that, in my opinion, are two of the greatest.  Two movies that every man, woman, and child should own.  Of course I’m talking about Super Troopers and My Cousin Vinny.  I’ll be honest, I love these two movies.  And I’m not the only one.

My wife disagrees.  She’s on the other side of the fence on these.  She’s not a fan.  I’m not gonna pretend to understand her reasoning.  I don’t get it.  I think she’s in the minority on this one.

This get’s me thinking.  Where do you draw the line in buying classic movies on Blu Ray…or the next hot format to hit the market?  These two were easy for me.  I don’t own either of them on dvd.  No brainer, right?  Now, what about a hit like Office Space?  I’ve got that sucker on dvd.  Can I justify buying it on Blu Ray?  I don’t know yet.  I guess that depends on what kind of deal I can get.  Pulp Fiction?  Have that on dvd and VHS.  Ya.  I recently bought Ghostbuster on Blu Ray too.  That didn’t look any better than a normal dvd.

So, I ask you…what are some of your favorite movies and would/have you bought them again on a newer format?  Let’s hear it…comment below.

Also…we’re working on a little outtake video from our studio session back in November.  Should have it ready by the end of the week.  And, two shows this weekend.  Friday (2/17) at the Boondocks Club in York Haven and Saturday (2/18) at the Rock Kat in Duncannon.  We’re gonna party hard.

The Good Old Days

Remember when pro wrestling was cool?  Ya, me either.  Haha.  Seriously.  Maybe we should get some shirts with Hulk Hogan on them or something.  Eh, maybe not.

Toys used to be awesome too.  Remember the old days?  He-Man.  G.I. Joe.  Transformers.  Voltron.  Ghostbusters.  The list goes on and on.  Sweet toys.  Great cartoons.  The original NES.  Even Sega Genesis was pretty rad.  Sonic the friggin Hedgehog?  Yeah.  The good old days.

20 or 30 years from now are folks gonna look back and go “man, remember how awesome stuff was in 2008?  I’m not sure.  What’s good now?  Cartoons suck.  Toys are pretty lame.  I don’t see it happening.  What do you think?  Leave some comments and let us know.  What are some of your favorite toys or games or cartoons from when you were a kid?

…and no offense to any kids who are currently reading this and think their stuff rules.

Also, round 2 of the EP lyric vids has been posted.  This week we dive head first into the South.  Let us know what’s up.  As always: THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Old School Hardcore

Remember how awesome the scene was back in the late 90′s and early 2000′s?  Ya, me too.  Basement shows.  Township building shows.  Shows in stores….remember Classic Rags???  The Why’re.  Monroe Twp Building.  The FREAKING Arts Haus!

Man, those were the days.  I remember Stretch Arm Strong PACKING the Monroe Twp Building back in the day.  That was a great band.

As I sit here tonight I’m listening to some old hardcore bands.  I’m talking about Stretch Arm Strong, Walls Of Jericho, 18 Visions, Brother’s Keeper.  This whole thing got started with some old Throwdown.  When Dave Peters was on guitar.
The scene used to be easy.  Kids came to shows every night of the week at every venue on earth to have a good time.  You could play the same place every week for a month and the venue would be packed every time.  It’s not like that any more.  I don’t know a lot of people who just go to shows for bands they’ve never heard of on a whim.  Just get up and go to a venue to hear new music.  Doesn’t happen much any more.

The music scene is different now.  It’s tough sometimes.  Shit, it’s tough a LOT of the time, especially for “local” bands like us.  We play for fun.  Straight up.  We’re here to have a good time.  Listen to the EP.  We wrote a song about it.  (It’s called Friday Night.)  We have fun playing shows and we love to see each and every person who takes the time to come see us and spend their hard earned money on cover charges and merch.

So THANK YOU.  Sincerely, Thank You to every single one of you.

Finally, we are playing the awesome Boondocks Club on Friday (FRIDAY!) February 17.  And then we come home to Perry County on February 18 at the Rock Kat.  We’d love to see you guys at either of these shows!  Check out the facebook event page for the Rock Kat gig.  Also, we also put together a lyric video for “LAW.”  We’re working on doing a lyric vid for each song on the EP.

-Mark.

Big Weekend!

Well friends…

What a busy weekend here at the Meet At Sundown headquarters.  First of all we had the NFL playoffs!  Only the Ravens are left locally…but who likes the Ravens anyway???  Dave’s team, the Denver Tebows, got T-boned by the Pats and the new PSU head coach Bill O’Brien.  But enough about that…

The best news of the weekend is that we are playing a hometown show for the first time in 8 months!!!  We’re super pumped to make our return to the Rock Kat Bar in Duncannon.  (The entire county is our hometown!)  This is going to be a magical show.  Yes, I said it.  Magical.  We’ll be joined by our good friends and consumate entertainers Fear The Fallen.  These guys are so much fun to hang with.  PLUS, it’s our good bud Evan Cook’s birthday!  So this is gonna be a total rager.  We’ll have copies of the new EP and new shirts, the famous koozy and all the goodies.

Also…one of our FAVORITE bands of all time is doing a 1-off reunion show.  Of course I’m talking about At Shiloh from Florida.  The catch is Golden Dave Golen is flying down to the sunshine state to do vocals for the show!  HUGE!  Maybe they’ll make their way up north and do a few shows with their buds in Meet At Sundown (wink wink)!

Well…keep your ears to the ground.  We’ve got more tricks up our sleeve.  Leave a comment if you’re reading this.  Maybe we’ll kick ya some free stuff!
THANK FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

In the meantime, check out the EP recording video:
